Jean Michel Jarre
Rarities
DISCLAIMER:This web page is designed for Jarre fans who
want to explore the Jarre Universe beyond the normal limits.
It is NOT for people who want to download music so they don't
have to buy it. The music on this site is not commercially
available. These files are here for educational purpose only,
for those who want to research the evolution of Jarre's music.
ORIGIN: These files are from an old tape copy I got from a
friend of mine (probably 2nd gen copy) and were labelled "Jarre -
The early years". They do not appear to be the same as the "Rarities"
bootlegs which I don't own.
WHATSHERE:I added half of Deserted Palace, Jarre's
first album (1972). More of this will follow soon, so check back!
TECHTALK:The files were sampled using old but reliable
equipment I got from a junk sale:
- Tape deck: Philips N5151 Stereo Cassette Deck
- Amplifier: Realistic Stereo Amplifier SA-800
These are probably over 10 years old so it's all analogue :-) but the sound
is still very good.
I used the Creative Wave Studio to record Wavs and the Fraunhofer
Encoder to compress them
SOUNDQUALITY: the files are Stereo 128Kbps 44Khz MP3's which is a good
standard. The original source was not in stereo (I think) so they are in mono.
Sound quality is SUP, no clicks or cracks, no tape hiss. The only problem is
that the overall volume is a bit low, which I didn't notice at recording time.
This problem can easily be solved by giving your volume button a good swirls :-)
I uploaded them to JustOn Files for free.
